SPOOKtacular Pops

Last Halloween, my old company hosted a Cake Pop challenge and invited the wildly popular blogger Bakerella (a.k.a. Angie Dudley) to judge the contest.  It was a special treat (pun intended) to meet her since she has turned cake pops into an international sensation!  Yep, I just geeked out for a second…

This was my first attempt at these cake pops and I didn’t realize it was going to take a shit load of time.  It took me two days to bake, roll, dip and decorate these bad boys.  I should have inserted lollipop sticks into bon bons and called it a day.  But I wasn’t going out like no punk.  I sucked it up and finished 40 cake pops — 30 which were casualties. Needless to say, I won the challenge!  And what did I win?!  An autographed copy of Bakerella’s Cake Pop book and street cred around the office.

If you think you’re up to the challenge this year, knock your socks off.  But be forewarned, these pops are cute but they will kick your ass.

P.S.  Keep your eyes peeled for another Halloween post in the next couple of weeks.  Doin’ big thangs…

P.P.S.  Speaking of doin’ big thangs, here’s a shameless self-promotion.
